Sawatdee from Bangkok !

Arriving into Bangkok we were giddy with excitement at the prospect of seeing Will and Owen - we sat at the airport and waiting patiently and then there they were - friendly faces - smelling slightly of fish (It's true) ! We got ripped off in the taxi on the way from the airport to our hotel and OP left his bank card in the ATM - good start! We didn't care though as we were really excited.

The first night we hit the Khao San road and spent our time drinking beer and looking for a couple of Thai brides for OP and WW. It was lashing it down with rain but still really warm. The next day it was still raining and we hired our own boat for a pleasant trip up the dirty river (see photo), The Beard got rid of his beard as did Will (see photos) in a traditional barber shop, and then we all had Thai massages which is pleasurable but also quite painful - you can hear each others backs cracking as they manouvre you around. More beers in the evening but this time in PatPong. You'll probably recognise this name as being the place where you can see ping pong/cigarette smoking/dart throwing/balloon blowing/candle extinguishing/bottle opening 'shows' by talented young ladies. We weren't tempted! Also has a great night market where each stall seller insisted as Will walked past 'we have your size' - most of them were lying!

Following day we did a day trip to Kanchanaburi which is where the Bridge over the River Kwai is (it rained alot - why did we choose to come in the rainy season). Nice bridge, very moving reading about it's history. More beers in the evening.

Yesterday (Friday) we did the typical tourist stuff as the weather was brilliant, really sunny and hot.. We saw The Grand Palace which is great, the Emerald Bhudda (although it is made of Jade and very tiny), the large reclining Bhudda and Big Buddha's little Buddha. More beers in the evening at makeshift bars on the Khao San road that do cheap cocktails by the bucket.

This evening we fly to Ko Samui for the full moon party tomorrow night on Ko Pagnan. We'll update you about that after the event!
Take care for now!

Mat, Rach, Owen and Will.

Ko Samui
Hello everybody...looks great fun! Hire some mopeds and explore Ko Samui if you have the time, there are some great waterfall walks there...mozzie haven though! You can circuit the whole Island in a few hours, and the petrol pumps are...well different!

Will is looking very brown already :-o
Big hugs,
Kirsten
