Ahhh, Lifou.
Without a doubt this was my favourite part of this entire journey. We had a bit of a late start but met up with the rest of the family for Brekkie only for me to be confused with why the boat kept swinging around and the scenary changing (all was revealed of course once I saw the boat from a distance)
We were anchored in a beautiful and sheltered bay in Lifou.
When we got onto shore we were greeted by various natives and little kids who would pose with us on the 'welcome to Lifou' sign. After my first time of trying coconut milk fresh from the coconut (DESLISH!) we headed up a hill towards a cathedral, only to discover a traditional hut on the road to it. So we stopped and had a look at the beautiful hut before continuing on our journey.
Once we made it up the hillside we were greeted by a beautiful view of both sides of the island as well as an old, but small, cathedral. Once we'd taken some photos we then continued back down the slope to the opposite side of the ocean from where the boat was anchored, to a beautiful reef spot.
Luckily the day before, whilst in Noumea, Erin and I had the foresight to buy a cheapish set of goggles which we shared a bit with Erin's sister and her partner.
After our half hour or so dip we then returned to the village and tried some authentic Kava ... which tends to send your entire mouth numb >.<
After that it was time to get back onto the boat and let the journey continue.
