I woke steph up at 6:00 (she was still feeling the effects of the 4 Ativan and 4 Dramamine she took to brave the flight here). I told her it was a quarter to 7 and maintained the lie for most of the morning. We watched the sunrise from the hotel and then hiked down for breakfast.
Our plan was to take the Lake Como ferry to a few of the resort towns on the eastern shore (Cadenabbia, Bellagio, and Menaggio) and then take a bus from Menaggio to Lugano, Switzerland. We only stopped for a few minutes in the other Lake Como towns though--none of them had the charm of Varenna. We did take the bus to Lugano, but sadly it wasn't the quaint Swiss town we were hoping for. We did enjoy walking through Parco Civico though.
Perhaps most disappointing of all was the absence of a Swiss stamp on our passport. We even got off our bus a few hundred yards from the border with the hopes of having a border agent stamp it for us, but the road back was too narrow to accomodate both us and the cars. We ended up sitting next to a small garden on the edge of Lake Lugano waiting for the next bus--a very relaxing afternoon.
Hope you're all well.
