Have a Mai Tai, You Are Going To Honolulu!

We arrived at Dulles easily and we were on our way to San Francisco in a packed plane. It was half full with what seemed to be a Chinese tour group, some who were deaf and most didn't speak English. We had a united person upgrade us 5 to extended economy seats, which was nice. Arrived in San Francisco and had lunch. Our flight to Honolulu was delayed by an hour because the pilot was late arriving for the flight. We sat on the plane at the gate the whole time. They offered us free on demand tv as a compensation but that only worked for movies --- no tv across the pacific. Ok, excitement is about to happen!

Was planning to watch Bruce Willis in another Die Hard movie, when they announced that they needed anyone with medical training on board, to let them know! Shannon hesitated for one second, but then signaled to the flight attendant who asked if she was a doctor! A woman had passed out, was vomiting & had her own oxygen. She had chemo 10 years ago & travels with oxygen. Shannon assessed her and remained with her in the rear of the plane until the ER physician decided well, maybe he was needed! There was very little service on the plane, all helping the sick woman, so they passed around free wine. One of the flight attendants asked Shannon if she wanted one, then he offered a Mai tai -- since we were going to Honolulu! We were in fear that the plane would be turned around to rerun to San Francisco, so he kept checking his compass on his phone! So far so good!

We made it to Honolulu, but could not get on the earlier flight to Lihue, so arrived in Kauai at 8;15PM. Got the rental car, and arrived at the house at 9:15 - over 20 hours after we left Chantlly! But, we are here!
