One regret I had was that today I really wanted to see the Chinese New Year celebration in china town, as London has a huge celebration
. But combined with the very cold rain, crowds and not knowing exactly where it was, I missed it! We came back to the hotel since we had reservations for tea. We had a classic tea and a chocolate tea. The conservatory where they serve tea was packed! Families, young couples, young girls celebrating birthdays, all Brits enjoying their very British custom!
Bob spent a few hours working, and I watched some episodes of Homeland before we went to dinner at a nice restaurant by the hotel. I travel home on Monday while Bob stays behind to complete work, and returns midweek. All in all had a nice quick visit, enjoyed London, lots to see. But above all, really enjoyed the hotel we stayed at. Quaint very British hotel with wonderful service! They have remember each time we have gone to the hotel lounge what we like to order. Not saying its because we have been there so frequently, but that might have helped!
My final in London began as we went to Mass at the Jesuit church, the church of the Immaculate Conceptio. A very pretty church, kind of empty at 8 am, with an American Lector and an Irish priest! Based on the previous day's visit to the Tower of London, indeed there are still no Catholics left in Britain! The dreary cold rain was beginning to wear on us, too. After breakfast, we decided to take the subway to the British museum. It continued to pour which I think persuaded the tourists to visit the museum. It was crowded especially with some school groups. We enjoyed the museum, seeing the Egyptian mummies and the Rosetta Stone. We were struck by the fact that British empire took home a lot of loot from the countries they concurred!
