Today, we had breakfast at the hotel, which was some nice croissants and antiques!  Actually there was  helmet in the breakfast room from the Viking era in France, tres cool!

We had booked our bike tour, the FAT Tire Tour of Paris (not flat as I keep calling it), before we left and headed on the Metro to the Eiffel Tower.  The app I downloaded on my iPhone is fantastic for the Metro.  You key in where you want to go, from which stop, and it plans it out for you  the route, both in step by step stops and a map.  Highly recommend it!  On the Metro there was an older french man, with a microphone, singing french songs, and he was great, and maybe was a new character on GLEE!  We got off the Metro and turned right, and there it was!  The Eiffel Tower!  Overcast day did not dim the light of the tower!  We met up with our group, and headed off on our bikes.  I would say there were 1/4 American, and the rest from English speaking commonwealth countries, especially Aussies.

We got the insider way to tour Paris as we passed many of the major landmarks, with traffic.  To my surprise, the number of business people lounging explains France's position in the world.  And we will leave it at that!  We watched a truck displace a small automobile as it backed up to reenter traffic.  That small car is now in another parking place!

We really liked the bike tour, would recommend it to anyone who can ride a bike!  A nice way to see the sights, burn off the chocolate mousse the night before, and enjoy the scenery.  When we left the tour, we took the Metro to do some "required shopping" at the Longchamps store!  Great deals!  Did a little more shopping for other dependents, had a cocktail in a beautiful square and returned to our hotel, 8 hours later!

About the title of this entry - When we were shopping at the Swatch store, the nice gentleman helping me asked me where were from.  I said DC, and he asked about the election.  He hesitated greatly when he said that he had heard that politics in the US can be very taboo.  We told him we hoped that the President won in November, and he agreed.  Thought Obama was great for the US, the world, and especially Europe where he is liked a great deal.  And then he said, "Besides, here in Europe, we think that whole Mormon thing is weird".

Au Revoir for now.  Tomorrow we have our tickets for the Eiffel Tower and we have a Seine River trip to take either tonight or tomorrow.

Thank goodness with my extensive foreign experience I will make my way to France and tell that French man how wonderful America is. Hopefully Paul Ryan won't force me to swim across for exercise!
