Travelled alot of kilometers in the last few days, spent many hours in our mini bus with some whistle stops, so feel a bit tripped out. Anyway..... I'll try and fill you in as best i can. After Hoi An we had a long journey, travelling along the coast. Stopped at My Lai spending a couple of hours there seeing where the American soldiers dessimated an entire village and their inhabitants. What an awful atrocity so i won't dwell on it. Spent the night in a charming fishing village ( more like a huge town ), hotel overlooking the sea. Lots of fishing boats bobbing around and huge nets connected to 4 poles sticking out of the sea. We watched from the rooftop of the hotel as the sun set and figured out how they used them. a man poled his round wicker boat out to a boauy and lowered a rope which let the net down into the sea. Guess a couple of hours later or in the morning he raised it again and the net would be full of prawns and fish. What an ingenious way of fishing.

Today we set off and continued travelling on Highway 1 stopping at another little fishing village for a break. Walking along the beach I met 4 children who were so beautiful and friendly. i wrote my name in the sand and they did theirs. We had quite a good chat with each other and laughed alot.

Got into Nha Trang early arvo, another hotel near the beach. Don't like this town very much, it is very commercialised. The esplanard is covered in fairy lights and Chrissie decos, strung across the road. All the locals are out on their bikes, complete with kids and babies to see the coloured lights this evening. We went to the mud baths and hot springs this arvo. Magnificently relaxing. Really good mud, which they let out of a pipe into the tub. Lovely slippery light brown mud. Then we sunbaked and let it dry, washed it off under mineral hot showers, jumped into a tub of boiling hot mineral water, sat under a mineral waterfall which pounded on our backs, then a swim in the pool of warm water. All mineraled out!

This evening Hai took us to a local place where we bbq'd  our own food on a ceramic container of hot carcoals on our table. Beef, chicken, fish, squid, and vegies. I feel totally stuffed now. Tomorrow we're off on a boat for the day to do snorkling, swimming, and eating again !
