April 11th

We completed our first day in Rome today, and what an exciting an eye-opening place!

After arriving at Rome Fumiciano airport, our first order of business was to catch the
Leonardo Express. This train(which looked like something out of Harry Potter and had us
thinking we would end up at Hogwarts), delivered us to the central rail station in Rome
called Termini.

From there, we caught the Metro, a BART-like subway system.  6 stops later, we arrived just
a block away from our accommodations, and 3 blocks away from the Vatican City.  Woohoo!

We checked into our room, got a quick bite to eat for lunch, and headed on over to the Vatican Museums for a tour.

The tour was awesome, and the Sistine Chapel was unmatched in its splendor.  The pictures we
captured don't do it the justice, and you've got to see the place with your own eyes to
truly appreciate the grandeur of it all.

Of course, we couldn't end this day without having some gelato.

Today's flavors:  Banana,
Coffee, and Cappuccino...with a dollop of whipped cream on top.  Great choice Jo!  :)

Tomorrow we go to Easter Mass delivered by the Pope!

Ciao everyone!

Mmmm gelato
Love it! Enjoy it while you can, you won't find anything quite like it at home.
