I took the train from Schwetzingen to Amsterdam, transferring two times in Germany - Mannheim and Koeln. Traveling by train in Europe is an experience all on its own. There are many procedures that are common for European train travel but seem to baffle those who've not grown up with the system. Also, there are many rail systems and knowing which train to take and where to buy a ticket can be tricky. You could easily end up in Belgium if you are not paying attention. You can also annoy frequent train travelers if you do not know some basic rules and etiquette.
