After stuffing my sunburnt face with a kebap I sit in a full internet cafe on a busy intersection in Ankara. At last we have left the tourist saturated areas of Turkey and I am much grateful. Ankara is very much a European city, good stuff before we head off into the depths of conservative Eastern Turkey.

Yesterday, amongst other things, I had a Turkish bath in a very local Haman. Butt naked, I was meticulously observed by the regulars. After speaking to a few of them, 'Genk' says to me 'Martin, you have a very nice body' and pats my chest. I slowly close the curtain to the booth I entered, trying to be polite and all smiles when I am getting a tad freaked. But at this stage I reserve the benefit of the doubt for them - it must just be the culture. After my scrub I take a dip in the pool whilst three of the bathers watch me constantly. Incredibley uncomfortable, I hastily leave, doing the best to cover oneself as they eyes gazing groinwards. Later that day, Rachel (copper, 30ish from Bath) introduces us to her Turkish mate who stays in Ankara and in telling him of my experience he informs that typically the men at the baths (they are mainly old) like younger men. Well, thats my cultural experience of Ankara týcked off!

Anyway, enough of what I have been doing and time for some thoughtful reflection...time for some reflection (hangover doesn't lend itself much to thoughtfulness).

I have only recentley felt that I have settled in. Took a while but I guess that is expected with 33 complete randoms. There are many really cracking people on the trip that I can definately see myself keeping in contact with after the trip.

I found being on the move to the extent we are a little tough at first, but as the pace has slowed slightly and I have fallen into what routines there are it has become a lot easier. So much to the extent that I look forward to getting back on the road and exoploring another new place by the time we head off again.

As this blog will be 7 months long and I am no talented writer by any stretch of the imagination I was hoping for some feedback eg Too many photos/not enough? Too many of a certain type of photo? Too much spiel? Annoying style of writing?? Email me though, I don't want my little ego to be shattered with public slating!

Apologies for the amount of entries due to the 'map pins' but they are more for me to see where and how long.

Can't say when I will next be blogging what with Eatern Turkey and Iran within the next few weeks.

All the best for now then! Tally ho!
