Byrraju Foundation - Verghese Jacob - Chief Integrator & Lead Partner, Dr. Y. Suresh Reddy - Partner - Alliances and Partnerships

Byrraju Foundation Website

Verghese was my first entry into this incredible group of companies and foundations.  I had a great deal of time with this extraordinary man over three different days.  We found that beyond our involvement in the development sector we had many other experiences and values in common - caring for dying, outlook and approach to life, etc.

Byyraju Foundation serves the Rural Communities - which for the most part means developing programs for the poor.  They are involved with different interventions to improve the lives of those in Rural Communities.  I only saw four of  their 40 programs and their nearest operations to Hyderabad.

They have created a water purification plant and have replicated it in many communities and are expanding it into many others.  They can take very impure water and convert it into water as pure as any bottled mineral water and then sell it at a very low price so  that even the poor can afford it.  The 72 year old man who runs the original plant is a volunteer who had been living in a retirement community and helped created the first plant and continues to manage it.

While on the subject of volunteering, Byrraju and all of its sister companies have very large volunteer programs that utilize highly skilled people who want to make a difference in the world.  Byrraju has an entire wing where volunteers work in a very pleasant work environment.

That brings me to telling you that the Byrraju facility is probably the nicest facility I have ever visited.  Starting with beautiful landscaped grounds to a lovely building to an interior that is a modern and lovely work environment that includes beautiful artwork (inside and out), some areas that look like a great museum, pictures of Gandhi, sayings - it is a incredible experience to just be on the grounds and in the buildings.  This is the facility that was developed in memory of the father of the Chairman of Satyam (and his brothers) who had instilled in them the values that were now be manifested by these people and organizations.

The pictures will show you some of the other operations that I visited.  For those interested in a more in depth understanding of Byrraju - click on its web site link  - Byrraju Foundation Website

My host for one of the days was Dr. Suresh who heads up the partner program.  Most everything that Byrraju does is in partnership with two other organizations - be they companies like IBM, the Federal, State or Local governments, NGO's - any group that is a natural fit for accomplishing a goal.  Byrraju typically takes the lead in these relationships.  Currently Byrraju has 230 such relationships and is commited to have 300 such relationships by the end of next March.

Verghese has agreed to be one of the guest lectures - video conference to India and California University/Institute.  Byrajju has state of the art video conferencing (and state of the art everything else.)
