We're writing a blog every day but I don't plan to send an email each day.

However if you keep the email that generated your visit you can click on the link each day to get the whole series of entries and where we are. We'll send a reminder email every fortnight.

So after a night of thunderstorms we're back to lovely 80F sunny days.We spent the day viewing a plantation and then enjoying a quiet, scenic drive along route 15 by the Mississipi viewing the leevees.

We started at Nottoway - a large plantation owner by a Virginian (of English descent) who moved to Louisiana. The plantation was saved in the Civil War because the gun-boat that came up the Mississipi was commanded by a Yankee who had visited the place before the War. Mr Randolph was in Texas at the time growing cotton to earn a living to pay for the estate so the place was in the charge of Mrs Randolph who agreed with the captain to spare the place as all the food/livestock had already been taken by the Rebels.

Here's some piccies of the place

We then drove on up route 1 and route 15 towards Natchez - we found a lovely spot on the Mississipi with jumping fish - very peaceful and we could have happily camped there for a few days.

.

Natchez is an interesting place being a centre of activity for the Natchez Indians back in the 1300, then in 1716 the French founded a town and it is recognised as the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississipi River.

At one time more than half the millionaires in the US lived in houses in Natchez as it one of the most important ports of the 1800s.

Tomorrow we're planning to see the old Indian Natchez settlement and then a few plantation houses and mansions before moving on Northward to Vicksburg which is the site of a large Civil War battle.

You're looking far too healthy already!
You've only been gone a week and already you're looking totally relaxed, tanned and chilled. It doesn't suit you! But where are the pics of Chrissie, have you lost her, has she been eaten up by 'gators on the Missippi?

Is Christine alive?
Hello!

We are concerned that Christine has been fed to alligators, please post photographic proof that she is still alive.

Many Thanks
