Salama, Ninjani, Dumela, Jambo, Werabaa, Salaam Aleykoom, Hello to All...!
Well the time as finally come for me to close the final chapter of this marvelous adventure and part of my life. Granted I've been back home for a few months (years!!) now but I wanted to let it all sink in before writing in my final impressions about the countries I visited in Africa and what this trip all meant to me as a human being. Not to worry, I'll try not to be too philosophical or boring...!
FAST FAST FAST FAST FORWARD....!!!!!
Actually, I wrote the original paragraph above at the time mentioned but it took me another five (5) years to stop procrastinating and take the time once and for all to finally complete this entry! Check one off the To Do list!! Time to finish what I started...
By now, it must have sunk in very very deeply... So much so that I have to come back here periodically to remind me that I actually did this crazy trip of a lifetime. Don't worry I still have stuff and artifacts lying around my home to remind me and tons of pictures that... you guessed it...I'm still going through them, naming and organizing them. Keeps me from forgetting I guess? At this speed I'll likely be retired (several years to go!) before I finish. Anyway... let's see if we can find some quick words of wisdom.
I originally set out on this journey as a young 33 year old looking for adventure based on dreams that I had since I was a kid. The timing was just right because I was doing a little bit of soul-searching at that point. What I found was an extraordinary, amazing, indescribable continent filled with beautiful sites, genuine and friendly people, and a way of life that brings you back to what we, in my opinion and as global citizens, really need to be happy: Health, Family, Friends, Love, Laughter, just to name a few...
I sincerely hope and strongly recommend that everyone gets the opportunity to visit Africa one day in their lifetime. All the countries I visited offered amazingly beautiful geography and unique cultural experiences. You might leave a little bit of yourself behind but will be lucky enough to bring back priceless memories, experiences, feelings, lessons, that you can cherish for the rest of your life.
Signing off one last time...
I hope that this journey (travelogue) inspired some of you as strongly as it did me?!
Take care to all and good luck in living great lives to the fullest.
Thank you very much to everyone for everything!
Martin

PS: Who knows maybe I will be lucky enough to experience another trip like this someday...???
Veloma, Hamba Kahle, Tsamaya Sentle, Kwaheri, Werabaa, Maa salama, Goodbye...!!
