One of our efficient tourist days. Seen a lot, visited a lot, tired.

1.       Postcard Row. Dropped off the bus to have a look at the much photographed strip of Victorian houses left over from the pre 1906 earthquake. Very charming little stretch of houses which sit on the corner of a green frequented by many dogs.

2.       Academy of Sciences and the Golden Gate Park. After jumping back on the bus we jumped off at the entrance to the park and started walking through. Big park. I love strolling around big parks like this and it's a bit of a shame were in a bit of a hurry to fit everything in today. After a while we find the academy of Science. Being a little tired I struggle slightly to enjoy the place as much as it deserves. I’ve seen a lot of Aquariums and so find it difficult to be enthralled by the one here. I’ve seen loads of rainforest exhibits and so don’t really get a buzz from that either. The Planetarium is very good but once again just a little bit over our heads. It’s difficult to keep up with it because it moves so fast.

The Academy of Sciences is a bit of everything and not quite anything in particular. It is very good but my heart wasn’t quite in it – I think I would have preferred to spend the morning walking around the park.

3.       Museum of Modern Art. A cross town transfer by bus brought us to the MOMA and I think we both really enjoyed the place. We used the included audio guides to make the most of the experience and it really did help to understand what the artist was trying to get across. Most of the time it just explained that the artist was depressed or suicidal or a bit strange or all of the above. Modern Art of the whole is still beyond my understanding. Well worth visiting though as part of the City Pass.

4.       Italian Dinner. This was a lovely dinner in a small Italian. The food was not overbearing in it’s size like most American foods and we both were full but not bursting.

Conclusion – Really Like San Francisco. Today was a day ruined a little by the fact we’re in a bit of a rush to fit everything in. We could do with a week here at least. It says a lot that I am writing this blog 3 days later in Vegas because I was just so busy when in San Francisco. It’s a great city that deserves a lot of time. My next blog is maybe more insightful as it was written almost immediately after the day was complete. It was that sort of day.
