Tried to sleep in again this morning but unfortunately the Laos people enjoy getting up early and blaring recordings through the streets as much as Thai people do. We grabbed a leisurely breakfast at another restaurant along the Mekong, and then walked to see the local temple. After that we drank some beers, played cards and had lunch at yet another Mekong facing restaurant.

After a lengthy lunch (from 11- 3) we left the restaurant and headed back to the hostel. One of the great things about both Thailand and Laos that we have learned is that no matter how long you sit at a table, the servers will never rush you or bring you the bill. You could sit all day an order one drink and you would never be pressured to leave. Back at the hostel, we packed our small bags for the Gibbon experience for our nice and early departure the next morning. We also booked a night bus from Hauy Xai to Luang Prabang for the night we get back from the Gibbon Experience. We decided to opt out of taking a two day long boat ride down the Mekong for the journey because we wanted as much time as possible around Louang Prabang before we headed to Cambodia (although the long boat ride does sound pretty cool).

Joined by our new friend Sarah, we then headed to a local restaurant which is run by a charity supporting near by hill tribe families and woman empowerment in the community. On the way, we met a guy from Ukraine who is also going on the Gibbon experience and he joined us for dinner. All in all dinner was good and we had a nice relaxing day. Now we just have to try to fall asleep despite our excitement for hiking tomorrow.

Ps. We will be at least 3 days without Internet so don't think we died when there are no posts for a while!

I do hope you have purchased leech proof socks before you head on your hike. Enjoy every moment. We will miss hearing from you.
