The long boat arrived in Laos and we officially started the next section of our journey! We grabbed Laos visas and headed as a group for the hostels. We all booked rooms next to each other and then headed for lunch. Me and Marty had a relaxing meal sitting along side the Mekong watching the river boats go by.
We then headed with Sarah to the gibbon experience check in, where , after alot of confusion she was able to move her trip to the same date as ours so she could travel with us (as she was doing to tour alone before). With dirk joining our possy, we headed to the roof top patio of our hostel to have a perfect view of the sunset over the Mekong. We all drank beers and chatted as the sun went down. We also met another Aussie named Jasper who was very well traveled, who joined us later for dinner.
Hauy Xai is a very slow town with not to much going on, but it turns out that you can meet alot of interesting people here. It will be nice to have one more relaxing day with new friends tomorrow before heading out on three days of hopefully intense trekking!
