So today we actually got up early...5:30 am to head to the top of the mountain for the sunrise. The view and sunrise were spectacular! We sat up there for about an hour watching the sunrise and were provided coffee. Believe it or not it was actually cold when we got up ~1 deg C but then heats up to mid 20s by end of day!

After the sunrise we went and grabbed breakfast before heading off on our caving adventure. There was just the two of us and our guide Mr. Watt (as he was introduced to us). The tour guide once again carried a machete. We hiked for about 30 mins to get to our first cave, the Fossil Cave. It was amazing. We went through the cave for about an hour squeezing through spaces not taller than 3' at times but saw some awesome formations, snakes, spiders (which with legs would span your face), shrimp, bats, and even fish. Overall it was our favorite cave.

We then hiked another 30 minutes to the waterfall cave. As the name hints to there was lots of water so no pictures but it was a sight to see. It was a much tougher time getting to the waterfall as we had to crawl through many meters of 3-4' gaps, the smallest of which was 1/2 filled with water. Once we made it to the end there was a 30 meter waterfall which we stood atop of. It was hard to imagine after climbing so deep that the water would drop another 30 meters. You could see the water fall off the edge into a dark abyss.

Finally after hiking for about an hour with a stop for lunch and a nap we were at our 3rd and final cave, the Xmas Cave. Which was full of massive formations, large bats, and some jade. After that we hiked back to the lodge for a swim and some dinner.

We said goodbye to our new found family of Brits late last night and headed off to bed. Tomorrow we are off to Pai to "try" and relax.

OMG, you couldn't pay me to go in those caves. It's a good thing you guys are skinny. Don't do that again, OK? And you seem to have good luck with machete-wielding guides - tip well!

Dad is shivering just thinking about those caves - better you than him! Sounds amazing - glad YOU did it (I'll live vicariously). Ditto for Gail's final comment!
