We were up bright and early again today to grab our mini van taxi to Pai. We had bought the Thai equivalent of gravol for the trip because we were warned that it was windy for most of the way, and we were glad we did. The turns were treacherous, with multiple blind corners where our driver would nearly miss oncoming traffic (he seemed to think passing cars on blind corners was a good route to take). A Thai lady on the bus with us told us there was over 800 turns on the road! A lot of people were quite pale when they got Pai.

Once we got the Pai we grabbed a quick lunch and then a an hour long sâwngthâew ride through more windy roads to Soppong. We then grabbed a taxi to the hostel The Cave Lodge where we were hoping they had room for us to stay. We grabbed a small bungalo there and began exploring. The cave lodge is on a river right next to the Tham Lot caves- a 250m long cave.

We explored the cave entrance but decided not to take the bamboo boats inside as we are taking a hiking and caving tour tomorrow which covers 3 caves. We met up with a Brit we had celebrated New Years with in Ayuthaya and headed to the back entrance of the caves where at the start of night fall, hundreds of fork tail swifts gather to enter the caves for the night. It was spectacular to see all of the birds circling above and then diving into the cave. Marty got pooed on haha.

We ended the night sitting around the lodge taking with 3 Brits and an Aussie. We're heading to bed early to prepare to get up early for sunrise on mountain top!

Hey Tori, you bought pants! You've been wanting some of those for a while.
