This morning, Tori woke up with a black tongue. We were very nervous that she was ill, however, found out from looking on line that that is a reaction to pepto pills. So all was good.

We caught the city bus to the train station and met a very well travelled German man on the way. When we got to the train station everyone was very helpful and so we figured out the process pretty quickly. On the train we met a tuk tuk driver and a Thai English teacher who we talked with the entire ride, both of whom were willing to help us with our Thai.

Once we got off of the train we took a ferry over to the island and met a French couple who we walked with to our hostel. Once settled, we headed over to Wat Phra Mahatha, a set of temple ruins near by. The ruins were great, especially the remnant Buddha head perfectly enshrined in tree roots. After the ruins we walked through a near by park where we saw some massive water monitors and a whole bunch of birds we were able to identify using the wildlife guide (Marty photographed, Tori researched- tori will create a full bio nerd list of all of the animal sightings we had at the end of the trip)

We are now off to a New Years party next door! Happy new year to everyone- from the future. Hope you have a rockin time!
