13ter bis 16ter August - Queenstown
Zurueck auf dem Magic Bus und auf dem Weg nach Queenstown, der Adrenalin Hauptstadt der Welt. Dem Geburtsort von Bunjy Jumping und vielen anderen gefaehrlichen Dingen und ausserdem Neu Seelands groesster Schi-Ort. Da ich und Martha definitiv nicht auf Bungy oder Fallschirmspringen stehen, gingen wir stattdessen Jetboating.
Jetboating und Jetskiing ist eine Neu Seelaendische Erfindung, die haben keine Schiffsschrauben, sondern saugen Wasser vorne an und pressen sie unter Hochdruck (wie ein Feuerwehrschlauch) hinten wieder raus. Das bedeutet das sie kaum Wasser unter dem Schiff brauchen und so fast ueberall hinkommen. Das Boot hatte also ca 10 Passagiere und einen Fahrer der mit ca 80-90 kmh einen Gebirgsfluss hinauf und wieder hinunterschiesst. Dabei versucht er die unmoeglichste Strecke zu waehlen und so knapp als irgends moeglich an Felsen, Baumen und dem Ufer entlangzufahren. Das Boot kann auch noch Spins (Umdrehungen) und unglaublich steile Kurven machen! Das ganze macht wirklich unglaublich viel Spass und es tut einem alles weh vom vielen Lachen.
Am Abend in Queenstown gingen wir noch mit ein paar Freunden in ein paar Bars und hatten eine tolle Nacht. Am naechsten Tag nach einer Erkundung der Stadt gingen wir auf einen der berge um Queenstown und genossen einen atemberaubenden Blick auf Queenstown und die Berge und Taeler in der Umgebung.
Am naechsten Tag, gingen wir mit einem Doppelmayer Lift auf einen weiteren Berg oder Huegel. Dort gibts uebrigens auch eine kleine Sommerrodelbahn die viel Spass macht und eine Bugy Jump Station die sicherlich nicht viel Spass macht. Wir sahen uns jedoch ein paar Springer an und dass hat wieder Spass gemacht. Am Abend ging ich mit Martha etwas Shopping (WAAEEHH) und dann noch auf ein letztes Bier mit Freunden in Queenstown.
13th to 16th August - Queenstown
Back on the Magic bus we headed to Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand where you can do pretty much any adventure sport you want. We had a great journey there stopping at the beautiful Lake Matheson which is one of the reflective lakes in the area. The weather wasn't the best for it but you could still see the Alps reflecting in the lake. Also we stopped at Wananka, another lovely town and a big ski haven. Now, Daniel and I are not really into bungy jumps and skydiving but on the way we did opt for a water based adventure activity - Jet boating. Jet boating is basically going in a really fast boat, about 85km per hour, skimming into the banks of the river, and doing big spins on the boat and it is great fun. We did our boating on the Wilkins River which was really beautiful with mountains all around and crystal clear water to boat in. The trip was for about on hour so we got a really good ride, the spins were the best but I did manage to bruise my hips because of getting knocked around in the boat. It was absolutely great fun though, we loved it.
We arrived in Queenstown about 6pm and headed out not long after to check out the renowned nightlife which was pretty happening for a Sunday night.
Next day we checked out the town before going on a great walk up the Queenstown hill with some friends. The walk was quite hard, harder than we had expected but the views of Queenstown at the top were fantastic, the mountains, the Lake, the Paragliders! Plus we got to see some lush snow up there too.
The next day after deciding we couldn't afford to see Milford Sound we had a great day in Queenstown. The sun was out all day as we started with a walk around the Lake, even tested the water which was very cold. Then we went on the Skyline Gondola, a cable car which takes you u right over the town where we again saw some amazing views of the town. We also went for a Luge up there - Luge is not a term for anything rude but is like a go-kart which was great fun to go on up the top of a mountain.
Back down in the town we did a bit of souvenir shopping before meeting some friends for a last Queenstown drink.
