We left Nelson in the morning and continued to have a great drive along the West Coast to Greymouth. We were told that the West Coast of the South Island is totally beautiful and we were really proved right on this. It was great really being in the bus because we could just view this spectacular scenery all the way. We had a few stops on the way also one being a great coastal walk which allowed us to see some seals basking in the sun while the waves crashed against huge rock formations. The second stop was at Punakaki to see the Pancake rocks, a area of huge rocks which as you might have guessed look like pancakes stacked on each other. Also there was a fantastic view of the ocean, along with lots of blow holes and caves with the sea crashing into them.
We arrived in the late afternoon to our hostel which was a really lovely place. That night we headed out on the town with the rest of the bus for an all you can eat BBQ at the local pub as well as a few pints of the local Monteiths beer. A very nice evening indeed.
8ter bis 9ter August - Bier und BBQ in Greymouth
Wir verliessen Nelson am Morgen fuer einen unglaublich schoenen Trip entlang der West-Kueste. Wir hatten ein paar Stops an der Kueste und konnten so eine Seehund Kolonie bewundern und die Pancake (Pfannkuchen) Felsen bestaunen. Der Blick auf den Ozean war unglaublich und die Fahrt war eine der schoensten in Neuseeland.
Am Abend gingen wir in ein Lokal beruehmt fuer das billigste Essen und stopften uns mit Wuerstchen und Salat voll und hatten einige Bierchen mit anderen Reisenden aus unserem Bus. Wir hatten einen tollen Abend und gingen dann jedoch bereits am naechsten Tag weiter nach Hokitika.
