sorry for the lack of blogging but im afraid we have been mega busy doing lots of snowboarding, snowboarding and more snowboarding!
we arrived here 3 days ago by night bus, which got us here.......thank god, we were very unsure if we had got onto the right bus and thought we'd wake up in the wrong place but thankfully we arrived safe and sound and only a 5minute walk to the gorgeous cosy hostel which would be like home for the next 5 nights.
the first day we organised lift passes and gear hire, did lots of much needed washing and got very excited about the next day ahead.
we were slightly worried that we'd lost my snowboarding mojo - but oh no its still there. its been really nice to get back into it and just have lots of fun.
as always i have been padded up - ass pad shorts, elbow pads, knee pads, helmet & wrist guards! better to be safe than sorry. although i do look like the michelin woman!!!!!!!!!!! ive been getting better each day and i managed to get from the top to the bottom today without stopping or falling! that surely deserves a medal! andy even video'd it as evidence! he he
hakuba is a gorgeous skiing village, lots of huge pine trees everywhere, snow galore and its not built up in the slightest which is refreshing in comparison to the alps. unfortunately there are no slopeside bars with outside seating like the alps but the snow and chilled out atmosphere more than makes up for it. its very different to europe as the ratio of snowboarders to skiers is 70:30, and it is so much quieter, there is room on the slopes to snake away to our hearts content.
yesterday there was a whiteout which was hilarious trying to navigate round the slopes when you couldnt even see a metre in front of you and soooooooooooooooooo much snow! it was great falling over because its like landing in feathers - and boy did i fall over alot yesterday.
today andys been trying lots of jumps and i got some great photos which i promise to post later.
only one more day left here then we plan to go and see the snow monkeys, then hopefully go to mt fuji area for a few days before 1 night in tokyo then onto somewhere new. really looking forward to some sun but i will very much miss japan. we have had such a great time here.
gotta go and get in a bath to relax these aching muscles
hope everyone is well
loads of love
the marshalls x x x
p.s - sorry the caps lock doesnt worry
