After one last night at the Hermanus Whale Festival & hanging out with a group of visitors from Cape Town, I made my way to Oudtshoorn. It was here that I did the "Adventure Tour" of the fantastic Cango Caves, where we all had to crawl through tiny tunnels to make it through the much less visited 3rd chamber of these famous caves. Then I bicycled back into town, visiting an Ostrich farm & Wildlife reserve on the way. The hostel in town offered a wonderful ostrich steak dinner, which I ate both nights.

Next, I travelled to the Garden Route, stopping at Knysna. Unfortunately, I had a bit of a flu, so I spent one day wrapped up in a duvet watching movies on TV. Luckily the sickness only lasted a day so I was able to go canoeing on the river estuary near town.

I continued on to Storms River where I completed a world record bungy jump! The Bloukrans river bridge jump is the highest in the world - 216 meters (of which the free fall is about 180 meters). I met a honeymooning couple from Ireland & hitched a ride with them back to my hostel after we stopped to hike the Storms River Mouth trails & walked on the suspension bridge. Later that day, I did an hour hike in the forest with a guy staying at the same hostel.

After an overnight stay in Port Elizabeth, I rode to Hogsback, a tiny hamlet in the mountains and supposedly Toiken's real inspiration for the Lord of the Rings trilogy (not New Zealand like the filmmakers make you think).
