The last few days have been spent in transit and have seen the transition from Europe to Africa.

After two days in Dublin, where I had a few interesting evenings in pubs and visited some historical sites, I caught the overnight bus from Dublin. This trip takes 12 hours and consists of a bus ride to the freighter docks of Dublin, a 3 hour ferry ride, and further driving through Wales and England.

On Independence Day, I celebrated by walking around London, watching wimbeldon and Euro 2004 football (soccer) championship.

Last night, I flew into Nairobi & was lucky enough to meet 3 other girls that will be on my African trip at the airport. Today we visited the Giraffe Center & an orphanage for Rhinos and Elephants. At the giraffe center, people could feed the giraffes food pellets. I was unlucky to feed a mean one that decided to butt me on the top of my head!

Besides seeing some Monkeys & Warthogs in the wild and a short walk in the city, the shock of Africa has not set in because we're all staying at a nice hotel. This will change soon as we start camping tomorrow.
