We tried out our new bbq with a big tri tip roast and it worked beautifully. I am a silly girl, though, because I expected to buy a propane grill that was assembled and ready to use out of the box. NOT! It took us about 45 minutes to put the grill together but Lance did it and we had dinner on the table by 6:30. This was very important because ice cream with Yogi started at 7:00 and we didn't want to miss that. After vanilla and huckleberry ice cream it was still pretty warm out so Lance and I went back and hung out at the picnic table in the shade and not long after we started to feel a nice cool evening breeze. Pam and Bill played a round of mini golf - Pam got a hole-in-one on the first hole but Bill ended up beating her by just one point!
We got up and hit the road before the heat set in in Missoula. It was nice to stay with Yogi Bear and BooBoo (pictures to come), but the RV park didn't have many trees and we didn't want to hang out in the forecasted 93 degree heat. We made it to Coeur d'Alene in only 2.5 hours and it was an easy drive. Just before we crossed the border into Idaho we saw a big moose running in the woods alongside the highway. We were all happy he was running into the woods and not towards the highway. As we crossed into Idaho we were back on Pacific Standard time so we are adjusting to the time change again.
Coeur d'Alene has a wonderful downtown area and fabulous lakeside neighborhoods. We walked through City Park and spent time on the beach where Roxie played in the lake chasing waves created by boats and jet skis. We stood in almost the very same place as our nephew did just a few weeks ago when he started his swim for the Coeur d'Alene Ironman Triathlon. Today was very warm here - 94 degrees - so everyone was trying to stay cool in the lake. Tomorrow they are forecasting 60% change of thunderstorms so we are hoping it cools down a bit. We also drove around the lake a bit and enjoyed looking at the big beautiful homes - even stopped at a few homes with 'for sale' signs to see how much they wanted. Not bad - a 2 bedroom, 1 bath fixer upper for $359!! Dinner was at a small italian deli where Pam and I had Caprese sandwiches with wine and beer and Lance and Bill had margarite and pepperoni pizzas. The restaurant patio was pet friendly so Roxie sat with us and enjoyed smelling everyone's food.
I apologize for no photo posting lately. We have had busy days traveling, setting up the coach and taking it back down again to travel to the next place, but we are now in Coeur d'Alene for three nights so I will have more time to download photos from the camera and our iPhones and will catch up on the past three days.
Thanks for joining us on our adventure :)
