My second weeks CVA project was based at Port Stephens, about an hour and a bit north of Cardiff in the 4wheel drive. Unfortunately we didn't stay near the site but travelled from the house in Cardiff everyday so we had to endure more than 2 hours a day cramped up in the back of the 4 wheel drive!
There was 6 of us this week; Lee (Norwich), Lydia (Essex) and Martin (Barnsley) replacing Tom and Sarah who left last week and we had a different team leader called Steve.
The actual work we were doing wasn't too different from last week - apart from we were pulling down biddou bush instead of lantana. One major improvement was the lack of mosquitoes which meant i didn't spend the week itching all my bites.
The actual Port Stephens area has some really nice beaches and a tidal island (like Burgh Island but its further out!) which we got to see at lunchtime and after work on a couple of days and you can see some of the area on the photos. We went for a walk up a hill in ? National Park one afternnoon which was where the pictures from high up were taken from.
We were lucky with the weather as well as it was sunny and about 30 degrees everyday apart from 1.
On the Friday we went out into Newcastle for a meal as it was mine and Alli's last night, we were intending on getting the 11:20 train back to Cardiff but ended up on the 2:40 one and missed our stop which meant a 1 and a half hour walk home!! Not good when you have to be up for 8:30 the next morning! Never mind, next time we'll have to pay a bit more attention to where the train is!
