The sun rose on Trinidad and brought a lovely overcast day. Nice and humid like Thailand, but still not deliriously hot so that you sweat your clothes out in 10 minutes. Wendy brought us some eggs on toast to start the day with some local fruit, Adam was not a fan, but I loved it all. The Taxi driver met us outside for a 40-minute ride to Maracas Beach. Trinidad’s famous beach on the north side of the island. The drive was truly breathtaking as it wound its way through sharp cliffs and rainforests.

We drove around to find your classic white beach with beautiful sand and palm trees. It was 9am and we were the only people there besides a Trinidadian climbing a palm to pull some coconuts down. We swam for what felt like hours until it started to rain. Such a lovely feeling being carefree, the three of us had to stop and just take in what was happening around us, how truly lucky we were to be there on a beautiful beach while it was raining.

We then went on to find ourselves at a local merchant for something called a Bake’nShark. An amazing idea combining bread and shark. It was a delicious sweet bun with soft battered shark; you could add your own condiments as well. We then made our way home and off to the last day of the West Indies Cricket match.

They really know how to throw a party in Trinidad as we payed $25 for a full bottle of Rum and some mixers. This lasted us a good 2 hours until it started raining and they called the match of. Fortunately they didn’t tell us to leave so we kept drinking, and drinking, and drinking till we had no more Rum left! The rest of the night is better left for another book and I think if you ask Holly nicely she might tell you the rest of the tale.
