Right. This entry covers 4 days so may be a bit long!

Emotion 1- sadness. Friday afternoon we were confined to the house, as teh children were practising for a show they were doing for us to mark us leaving. Said show started at 4 on Friday afternoon. Went in and a child handed me a bunch of Marygolds. Tears were weliing up right there! then the kids proceeded through various singing and dancing items which were all brilliant (and would not have been done by any of our children at home!) Then the speeches began. Normally it would have been ok cause when Niami goes off on a speech, it is in singala and We don't have a clue what it was about!   This time though, Ronali miss was here to tranlate and the speech was so nice, it had both of us in tears. Then the presents came out, and more tears. After this, they wanted us to say something. After glancing at caroline through my own tear filled eyes, and seeing she was in no way able to speak- I tried and failed!!!! What I said was barely understandable! Luckily Caroline had recovered and gave a lovely speech.

Saturday- elation. Saturday, we went to my first ever cricket game. It was brilliant. The whole time, from 2 till 9, there was a Sri Lankan band playing and the trumpet player did not stop. It was a brilliant atmosphere and if ones in England are anything like them, then I shall be frequenting more of them at home. Even Caroline enjoyed it which is saying something. And it was one of the best bowling displays I have seen, resulting in the infamous England collapse which always brings a smile to my face. For those of you who understand what it means, Sri lanka won 211 all out against Englands pathetic 104 all out.

Sunday- boredom. Sunday was a depressing day. We went to a nice church in cinnamon gardens but the pastor spoke for 45 mins and it was more like a history lecture than an actual sermon so was bored for most of the morning. Then the van broke down before it got to the hotel. Eventually a replacement was found, but we left 2 hours late and got into Rush hour traffic. It took us 3 hours to get out of Columbo! Longest van ride ever. Makes me glad it was the last time i will ever make that journey.

Monday- surprise. Today was my birthday. For those of you who forgot, fair enough. But the teachers here did not forget. The preschool children sang me happy birthday twice, and I pumped them full of chocolate with Corn flake buns which I spent 2 hours making last night! then proceeded to do the same with the afterschool children. The teachers afterwards had a little surprise for me. I they told me to walk into a classroom, where they made me stand in an exact place. I looked up to see a bucket attached to a rope and a bag of flour. Unfortunatly it was too late to move and got soaked and covered in flour! Milani, Gourie and Anada the caretaker were behind it! Think it was revenge for me annoying them for the past 2 months! Got my own back though. They made me feed them cake. actually feed them! So i got gourie mailani and anandas (who can run shockingly fast by the way. Luckily so can I) with cake in the face!  They also gave me a present of 2 toy chickens which were great. Apparently it is a sign here that someone is chasing girls.. so not really sure what that was meant to mean.  At the end they had a lovely prayer for me in Singala and englsih which was really nice.  So it was a really good day!
