Yesterday was eventful to say the least. After I had written the entry last night, we realised that Andy the builder was awol. Around 700 Andy popped his head round the door to say he was away for a walk armed with a torch and umbrella to beat the dogs away with. I didn't give it a second thought till around 830 we realised  he was not back yet. We were slightly concerned because Hambantota is the kind of place that you could walk to the other end of town to the other and back again in at the very most an hour. Also Andy had been out in Hambantota once. In a Tut Tut. Never walked before and as there are no street lights can be disorientating at night.

After checking his room- no answer and the various hiding places out the back, again no answer, we decided to wait till 9. If he was not back by then then we would go out looking for him. Well 9 came and went, so we went too. Outside to look for him that is. After 5 mins of walking up the road, we found him dandering up as if he hadn't a care in the world. Apparently he had gotten to the end of town, and bumped into Mansoor the tut tut driver and stood talking to him for an hour! Thankfully we didn't have to explain to Ronali as to why the new builder had gone missing after a week! Now I know what my parents felt like when I was out later than I should have been. then again I was a child. Not a grown man!

Today the preschool children started practising for the opening of the new building at the end of October (well thats the plan anyway). they are bringing the band back for a reunion. With an exception they have a drum that they are beating. They gave it to Afsha initially but quickly discovered that she has worse rythm than me, so was quickly demoted and Sapuni is the new lead drummer! It has also meant that the infamous rythem of 123 123 1-2-3 is back and will going through my head for the next few weeks!

The afternoon class had their free day which presumably because the teachers coudn't think of anything else to do with them, played games. I took the boys and played a few vollyball based games, then a catching game which they enjoyed. Then chaos broke loose when I made the fatal mistake of taking out my camera. Once teh kids catch a  whisper of a camera being within say a mile, an instant chorus of One photo appears and I was surrounded by about 20 children demanding their photo taken!!

I do have 2 prayer requests if possible. One is for a boy called Namal, who I swear is like doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He was with us fishing on Sunday and was the most plesent child you could ever wish for. Then he comes to Smile and turns into a terror. He can be very rough and has a violent streak in him which today and yesterday resulted in 2 girls bawling their eyes out after he had hit them for no reason,  and me at the end of my patience with him. So if you could pray that he calms down a bit and for patience for me!

Also pray for myself, Caroliine and the staff here over the next few weeks. I think it has clicked with them that we are going home soon, as Niami said twice to me that we are going home soon and the children will miss us. As it gets close to us going home, it is going to get worse so any prayers as regards that would be grteatly appreciated!
