Hey there!
Welcome to what will hopefully my continuing, successful adventures Down Under...
It's almost time to head off, after weeks of stress trying to coordinate paperwork from Aberdeen to Edinburgh, Scotland to England, UK to Oz, Perth to Melbourne, Melbourne to Adelaide, Adelaide to Edinburgh... You get the picture - somehow giant piles of cow dung kept appearing in my way, making this surely the most complicated, drawn out and bl**dy annoying visa application in the history of the world!
Things look to be on track (no 'chicken counting' though!) and all being well I'll be sitting on a plane on the 28th of February, flying off to sunnier climes.
Before that, there's a few nights out to be had, details to follow...
Monday the 20th was a whisky tasting at the Glentanar - more malts than my poor constitution could cope with (at least it was the next morning!). Think I'm getting too old for this sh*t!
A few more nights out before I was finally preparing to head off, including the head wetting for Fox Joseph Daniel Murray. Duncan with some mates from work, Duncan's Dad, Andy, John and my Dad all turned up at Frankenstein's Pub in Aberdeen to watch the rugby and celebrate the birth of Fox. It turned into a double celebration with a stunning Scottish performance destroying the English, winning the Calcutta Cup and sending them home tae think again. I'm told they never got very far back down the road that day - something about the wheels coming off their chariot... Heh, heh, heh!
Anyway, Tuesday came and so did the snow... Mum and Dad drove me to the airport loaded down with almost double my baggage allowance. I wasn't sure if I'd get away without paying for the excess but the lovely check-in girl didn't bring it up, so neither did I!
A tearful goodbye at the gate left me feeling a bit sad and apprehensive about my decision to move to Perth (probably not the ideal time to have second thoughts!) but we parted and I headed to the plane.
The plane from Aberdeen to London was an hour late because of ice and snow on the plane - almost got out myself to start scraping the wings! Anyway after that worrying delay the plane was finally on its way South and I was on my way to Oz!
