Friday 20th August (continued)
After dumping my stuff at the hostel and having a Scottish ale at the hostel bar I went for an explore around my favorite city in the whole world. This place is so alive this time of year, and I love it. I can understand why people who live there get frustrated with all the tourists invading their home, but if you're just there for a bit (like me) it's actually pretty cool. I strolled the streets, went to Princes St. park, took some photos, walked down the royal mile and just soaked up the atmosphere. This place is so cool. I headed to The Stand comedy club where there was an Irish comedy show....an hour and a half with 4 different Irish comedians. It was more of an Irish comedy late afternoon than night, cos it stated at 6pm, but it was very funny. The Stand also have a Scottish comedy show, same deal - four comedians in an hour and a half, so I think I'll go to that when I get back to Edinburgh. After the comedy I strolled though some of the less touristy parts of Edinburgh on my way back to the hostel. Then I spent the evening updating this blog and then had a pretty late night, didn't get to bed til 3....I was attempting to talk to Prue on the phone, but I don't think we spoke for more than 5 minutes in a row without the signal dropping out, which was very frustrating, but great to chat all the same

Saturday 21st August
Up at 6am, so not a lot of sleep. Had breakfast, got ready and then headed for the royal mile, where I was to start a week long tour of the highlands and islands of Scotland. I couldn't wait for this trip. I'd done one four years ago and loved it, so I was pretty excited. Walking through the centre of Edinburgh at 8am on a Saturday morning is completely different from 8pm. There is almost no one else around and I had the city pretty much to my self. It was really cool strolling from my hostel to the centre of the city and just taking in the sights.

The tour left at about 9am after everyone registered, I'll do one big entry on the tour when it finishes up.

If I get a chance later today I'll come back on here and upload photos for the past two weeks or so, so check back if you're keen. Again, thanks heaps for getting on here for a look. I've now had 1300 hits on this blog, which just blows my mind. I've now been gone for two months, so I'm over half way on my trip. It's been an unreal experience so far; I've seen all this amazing stuff, met so many cool people and have learned a lot....about everywhere I've been and about myself. So thanks again, keep up the comments, check back soon for some more photos and 'follow the compass'.
