In October of 1997, Marjorie and I stopped off in Kathmandu, on our way from Ladakh to Thailand. In addition to spending time in the Kathmandu Valley we did a mountain bike trip to Nargokot, which overlooks the Himalayas to the north. The accompanying photos were taken on that trip.

Re: Wow
Hi Ross,
Thanks for the comments. My wife and I spend about four months a year in southeast asia and use Chiang Mai as a home base. The Jade Buddha wat is about three blocks from where we stay. It's also just down the street from one of the best massages in Thailand...at 100 Bhat per hour! I noticed you didn't care for Chiang Mai too much. It has grown a lot in the last ten years, but it still has its charms and is a good base for traveling around the rest of SE asia.
You can check out other photos at flickr.com by going to www.flickr.com/photos/paulandmarjorie. I just started using that one a few days ago.
Also check out www.smithsonianmagazine.com. The photo, at the top, of the monk taking the photo of the other monks is mine and was shot at a Wat not too far from the Jade Buddha wat, on Thapae Road, in Chiang Mai. Hope you enjoy them.
I was very impressed with your site and was VERY interested in the Sony laptop. Looks very compact and user friendly.
The places you've already covered boggle the mind. I can't wait to check out the rest. We're in Colorado, USA if you ever get over this way. Till next time...
Cheers,
Paul
