It has been a busy three weeks, with hiking, biking and a little boating. We have a nice campsite up here on the hill of Pacific City, with the beach just down a small trail and across the street.  We like walking the beach in Pac City; it is long and flat and we always see beautiful things.

Two days after my last post, I went to the beach without Charlie and saw 2 more Falcons doing the same eating of a bird.  I was able to get even closer this time, and I think it was because I was smaller, ha, ha.  This bird was a little darker with more brown than the slate blue on our last post.. Probably male and female - again more research needed.  We have been very lucky to witness this and see these beautiful raptors.

This same day I was alone on the beach, there was also a large group of sea birds feasting on some fish.   Thought a boat lost its catch as some of the fish looked like salmon that had been filleted.  The turkey vultures got brave and once in a while were helping themselves to the meal too. On this same day, I also saw a beautiful jelly fish on the sand – this photo is one I saw, really quite decorative, was about 14" in diameter.

The beaches are, as usual, somewhat foggy on some days, so you will see some of my photos with fog.  Have some rain and other days are beautiful sunshine.  Temps have been in the low to mid 70's – we are sure that makes everyone at home jealous!

Don and Barb visited us here again one weekend.  They have their trailer in a permanent spot here in Pacific City and visit their "beach home” often, all year. We did a hike up to a local lookout, biked down the beach town of Neskowin, and did a boat outing on Devils Lake which is south at Lincoln City.  Very windy on the lake so didn’t stay on water too long.  Sun was nice and we enjoyed lunch overlooking the lake and several of our walking/biking events. One day, we stopped at a bead shop along 101 – fabulous place and I got some really nice beads and will stop there again when in the area.  Don said it was the favorite place one of his employees visits – I can see why!

On August 14th Charlie and I drove to Portland – 100 miles each way - for me to see the quilt show “Quilt, Knit, Stitch”. Had a very enjoyable time – lots of beautiful dyed yarns, beads, and fabric.  I was really inspired by the buttons and beads at the show. Charlie found a place in the lobby and watched a movie on his Kindle Fire. The special exhibits were limited, but did post some photos of a couple of my favorite quilts – for my sewing friends. There was a large exhibit of crocheted, yes crocheted, faces – I posted one. Look carefully, it is all done in crochet stitches.

Last week Charlie and I went for a walk through Neskowin, so I could take some photographs. Lots of pretty little beach houses with lovely gardens.  I think they have a speed problem, as there are signs everywhere to “slow down”, here are only a few and I think one person is really trying to make a point with his entire fence posted with signs!  Took some photos of pretty gates too and one yard had a dog laying it. When taking my photo of the gate, he was perfectly placed in my  photo the hole in the gate porthole– dog lovers, enjoy.

We did another walk on the beach in Pacific City and look who is getting the “photo bug”!!  He is using his Kindle Fire which takes great photos.  It was low tide and we could get close to the star fish.

We left this morning and off to Seaside for 2 weeks. Sunshine is here and a beautiful day. This is our biking town and we like visiting and biking in Astoria again.

Love and hugs to all, Charlie and Marilyn
