Hi everyone, Yesterday we spent the day at a Tuscan winery about 2hrs north of Florence. It is owned by an Italian chef (Angelo) and his Portuguese wife (Sau) who met in London 20 years ago. They came back to Italy in 2002 and bought this vineyard. What a place. It was everything you could imagine a Tuscan winery to be. Beautiful wine and bread on arrival, walk through the vines and olive groves to meet their pet ponies and donkey and then along a path with a view to die for to the most amazing pool and outdoor gazebo for an al fresco lunch. Angelo had done all the preparation. There was his own salads, most of the ingredients grown on the property, his own chicken liver pate and of course more wine followed by biscuits which you dunk in port and eat. Nobody wanted to leave. It was such a beautiful day - 30°. I decided in about 2 minutes that I definitely had to come back to this place. They have refurbished the property and have 5 self contained apartments which they rent out all year around. Today we are back in Florence - amazing city but with so much to see. I went to the leather markets this morning and am in the internet cafe next to the laundromat waiting for my washing to dry writing this. Last night I was absolutely buggered and tried to get an early night (10.30). The night before we had watched the sun go down sitting in the Piazza Michaelangelo which is on a hill above Florence. We had taken a whole lot of bottles of wine that we had bought on the Italian Riveria and everone pitched in with some food and we met up with another Intrepid group travelling around Tuscany and shared our food and wine with them. Tomorrow we are on to Rome and the final day. Saturday mornmng we all go our separate ways and I meet up with Ash in the afternoon. All of a sudden it seems to have gone so quickly. I am keping a diary which I write every night (or try to) because I just can't remember everything. Love to everyone.
