Since it's supposed to rain tomorrow, I decided to do roses this afternoon.  (Tyler calls itself "America's Rose Capital", puts on a 4-day Rose Show every October, and grows a fifth of the roses produced in the U.S.)   www.texasrosefestival.com/museum/garden.htm

Thanks to my trusty GPS, getting to the Municipal Rose Gardens was easy, but finding a way to get in was a challenge. While the other connected buildings are clearly labeled as some sort of theater, the Rose Garden building has small bronze lettering on a dark red brick building. I wandered back and forth at least twice just looking for a way to get to the roses! Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because I entered through the building instead of the gate.  Just walked out on the balcony and, WHAM, what a view! I'm not really into roses, never cared about receiving a dozen, tend to like the old-fashioned grandma variety, or even prefer a peony. But this was an overwhelming site. And even though many were a bit past their prime, WHAM!

I've posted tons of photos and named the variety when there were signs. But, really, who cares? It's enough to say they're beautiful. If you haven't done it yet, try viewing it as a slide show - pretty cool!
