Settling in Hotel Londra Marieke and I thought we'd have a quiet night. Ordered some Chianti Castiglioni, free aperitifs by the hotel. Some cigars and playing cards. (For most of you that don't know, Marieke and I are notorious card players, playing for hours and hours on end, playing a Dutch game called Thousands

I am not a regular smoker, in fact I think I have never smoked a cigarette in my life. Occasionally, and usually badly influenced by Marieke I smoke cigars. As I am not a regular smoker it extinguishes frequently. Having forgotten our lighter, I asked one of the other patrons of the hotel.

5 minutes later he joined us, turned out his name was Mikko and a cameraman/producer of a Finnish production crew. The presenter Jaakko joined us shortly there after. Somehow he reminded me somewhat of Richard Saunders. Don't ask me why. After initial introductions and lots of laughter, reading Finnish and Dutch, wine and cigars and funny, sad and intriguing stories the bar sadly closed. The bartender offered us a last drink. Frangelico was my drink of choice. Jaakko decided to go to another venue but Mikko took us out to another bar.

We were directed to "Joshua Tree", bad choice… Hard rock/heavy metal wasn't our style and before we even finished our drinks we decided to move on. Found another nice bar. Had a few more drinks, chatted movies, music, love, life and all that you talk about after a few drinks. Then made our way home…

Tomorrow more about Firenze, The Statue of David, Piazza Duomo and Piazza San Marco.

Also more about the intruder in our hotelroom!
