I've always felt the best way to get to know a place is to spend time with people who live there. Today I met the family of my Paris based friend Virginie's half-sister Lisa, who lives in Sydney. Lisa is a vibrant, vivacious, beautiful woman who kindly invited me to her home. I was keen to meet my good friend's newly found sister, and I think Lisa was keen to meet me, in an effort to get to know Virginie a bit better.

Lisa and the rest of the Fuchs family moved to Australia six years ago from South Africa. Her husband Stan is a handsome karate master, her 16-year old son Joshua is a gorgeous gentleman - who has a twin sister who was away when I visited -her youngest daughter Rachel is a tall beauty, and her youngest computer wizard son Daniel is a dote! It was a treat to be in such a home full of life and love.

Oh, did I mention I also met their pet parrot, Pepsi! Photos attached.

receipt of book
Thank you very much for sending me 'The Careful Use of Compliments' which arrived on Easter Saturday and I have already half read, your Air New Zealand ticket making an excellent bookmark. I have not read any of the others in that series. I believe there is a new No.1 Detective Agency book called 'The Miracle at Speedy Motors' which I have not yet seen in the shops. We recently had a half hour programme on the radio of the No.1 Detective Agency and now we are to have it on TV which has been filmed in Botswana. Bren and I prepared and led the March walk for the footpaths group and we lost 4 walkers on route but they turned up in the end, they had been sheltering from the rain somewhere. We have had the most atrocious weather now for weeks and we have had gale force winds, rain, hail and snow all in one day. You are lucky to enjoy some sunshine. My garden is covered in moss but I have lots of tulips to come out when the sun shines. Thank you once again for the book and look forward to hearing from you again.

Elsie
