Up at 6 am with a drink and a pot of yoghurt with only 60%2525 sugar in and out at 7am with a taxi to Thornburi BTS station. All the way to Mo Chit at the end of the line and a short wait for the shuttle to the Impact Exhibition Halls. Horrendous traffic as normal and a journey of 40-45 mins instead of the programmed 30 so arrived at 9.50 for the 9am start only to find that the computerised registration system had gone down and there were long queues. The start was delayed by half an hour to cope and we sat down for the opening speeches that began at 9.30. Great opener from Sula and the two other speakers from RMA, the main sponsor and from the UNHCR(?). The latter was very good.
The rest of the morning was going around the exhibition, speaking to some of the exhibitors anthem having lunch at about 1pm.
Very very proud of Sula . The event is very impressive and so is she. Talking to other people who think so too. I know what has gone in to make it all happen. Paddling under the surface and looking like a swan.

Stayed at the event until about 2pm and then decided to go back to Sula's room to warmup in the sun and swim in the pool. Her room hadn't been cleaned so we quickly changed and went to the pool. Turned out that the pool was indoors so we asked if there was an outdoor pool. We were immediately put in a taxi, going across town with a very grumpy driver , no English , and taken to the University in search of the outdoor pool which was hiding. The driver had a hissy fit and we were dumped at the pool, still under some refurbishment, no towels, water or taxi back but here we are 100 baht down blogging and deciding whether to swim. M has no underwear for the return! Nice outdoor pool anyway! Will have to return commando.
And so Mari did run after a stray Taxi driver collecting his wife from work, who although he didn't know about my total lack of underwear, took pity on us silly Farang and gave us a lift back to Novotel , refusing any payment. karma works. What a pair!
Had a cup of tea, a rest and retrieved my knickers & bra before going back to the reception at six.
Fantastic buzz and atmosphere at the reception, good food and alcohol. We stayed till the end as Talli came to meet us which was lovely. We met her first in Ko Chang and she lives nearby.. We had a long journey back, now nearly eleven but so pleased that we saw as much as possible of AIDF. Well done Sula and her team.
