We left Lilongwe early as we had been warned to expect a long wait at the border with Mozambique. The road to the border saw us directed down a dirt path, where we met another 24 wheeler. We past it, just, with both trucks half in the ditch.

Getting stamped out of Malawi was no problem and fools some of those on the tuck into a false sense that this will be a piece of piss getting into Mozambiqwue. At Kandi Beach we had heard that the visas had spiked to $60, which is insane for a transit. On returning from the border post she has good and bad news. The good news is that the vias were only $28, the bad news was that there was no power and they didn't have enough forms. The first batch filled in their forms and the waiting started. After an hour the poer came back on, they photocopied enough other forms and we sent in our passports and completed forms.

At this stage we got out of the truck as we knew we had a wait in store. The football was produced and quickly a Mozambique/Malawi select was taking on the Oasis Truck side. The game took place in the no mans land between the borders and we removed our shoes to even the sides. Playing barefoot on tarmac in 30 degree heat is not easy but soon a full scale game was in progress. We won the game, and soon touch rugby and cricket were in full swing as well.

Some of us had learned an African bean game like chess in Malawi and we also produced the board and played that for a while.

After five hours of sitting around we finally received the visas and we were into Mozambique, but we had another few hours to drive. Just before we left the other Oasis truck rocked up but they were turned away as the post had no power and no forms left.
