This morning we slept in nice and late.  Mom and Leslie went and found a bakery and got us some fresh bread to have for breakfast.  It was good.  Then we just hung around for a while.  Mom and I went to find the Movistar place to put more money on the phone, and then found the internet café to upload the last two blogs.  Then we came back here to find Anna just waking up, Leslie hanging out by the pool, and Madison at the beach.  We decided to go to Gibraltar since it appeared to only be about 20km away.  We get loaded up in the car and start heading over there.  It was really about 30km, but up and back down a mountain.  Then we found our way to Gibraltar.

We parked the car in a public parking garage right across from the gate, and then walked through the immigration and customs.  This consisted of merely flashing the passport, not even opening them.  So then, we are on Gibraltar – aka we are now in what appears to be England.  Woo.  Because apparently, it's an English colony or something like that (yeah, I know, I’m no history buff and I’m the first to admit it).  There were police men in crazy hats, red telephone booths, and fish and chips.

Speaking of cops, I realized I haven’t mentioned our hot cops theory at all.  Spain appears to have EXTREEMLY hot cops.  Seriously, they are RIDICULOUS.  They are everywhere on the streets.  Occasionally, you see an ok looking one, or an older one, but they’re driving in their cars or inside (hidden away!).  But man, they are amazing.  We’ve had many jokes about how we’d love to have them arrest us.  Well, anyway, back in Gibraltar – aka English territory – this was not true.  Back to ugly cops. And now back to your regularly scheduled blog.

We had lunch right in the main square, at a fish and chips place.  The whole island was clearly touristy, but that was ok.  The fish and chips were really good.  There was a family at the table next to us from Pennsylvania.  They talked to us a bit, but drifted away once they heard us cuss.  We did find out that we think they’re on the same tour to Morocco as us tomorrow, so that will be interesting.  We’re already planning our cussing brigade when we see them because it was so funny to watch.

After the fish and chips, we debated going up to see the monkeys.  But, we learned from the Pennsylvania family and the waitress that it’s a 10 euro entry fee, then some other random 15 euro fee to get up there, and blah blah blah…. And the waitress said she did it once but wouldn’t go back, so she didn’t convince us it was good enough to go up to.  So we just wandered the streets of Gibraltar for a while.  Madison and Anna sat at a restaurant and drank a beer while Mom, Leslie, and I walked a little farther.  Then we all decided it was time to head back to Tarifa and go to the beach.

When we got back to Tarifa, Madison and I went straight to the beach for about 2 hours.  Mostly playing in the waves again of course.  I have decided that EVERYONE wears a bikini whether they should be or not.  The only other people in a one-piece besides me are the super old women.  But whatever, I’m ok with that.  We’re clearly the Americans anyway, what with my blonde hair and skin…. Oh and Madison’s American Flag bikini.  Leslie laid out by the pool, and Mom and Anna took naps (I think).

We came back in and Mom and Leslie made dinner.  Lentil soup, salad, and a Spanish tortilla.  I ate a ton of salad.  My body is very happy to have some vegetables in it now, other than potatoes.  After dinner, Mom and I cleaned up while Leslie, Madison, and Anna went back to the internet café until they got kicked out because it was closing at 9:30.  Then we just sat in the living room, talked, and eventually went to bed.

Oh man, I wish I paid more attention to Spanish cops. Have you noticed that bikinis at all are really for the modest. Really, if people are wearing a top (or bottom) at all, it's a win.
