Okay, they've got something backwards here. The first stop when I got of the plane at Keflavik Airport was... a security checkpoint! HUH??? What the hell? I mean a full pre-boarding check...take off shoes...laptop out...walk through the x-ray... Don't these guys understand that the terrorists have already blown up the plane by now? There was a little sign explaining the reason why we had to endure this which was essentially that it's only for passengers arriving from non-EU countries because their safety precautions aren't in line with EU guidelines. Now I appreciate that they tried to console me with their explanation and it sounds reasonable except that I've flown to EU countries from non-EU countries and have never had to go through a security upon arrival. So in the end I am offended that they think I am that stupid and terrified. And, really, are the terrorists targeting Iceland?
That aside, the descent was beautiful. I took some pictures out of the window to show what Iceland looks like at 11:30 p.m.!!! It's definitely going to take some adjusting to all this light! But I'm looking forward to the many natural wonders and wildlife I'll see.
