Skyscrapers!

Arriving in Panama City at about 5:30 in the afternoon I had a view first of the canal and then of a skyline replete with modern skyscrapers - very different from all the Central American capitols I had been in before! From the central bus station I took a cab to Mamallenas hostel.  I had studied the map in Lonely Planet and was surprised at how quickly we arrived at the hostel.  Well, that's because the location of the hostel in LP is incorrect - they've moved.  Glad I didn't try to get there by bus and end up in totally the wrong place!  



The hostel is great, comfortable, nice atmosphere.  I'd like to come back here some day and actually explore the city a bit but with only a day here I'm basically just hanging out at the hostel, doing laundry and...catching up on the blog!  Tomorrow (April 6) I am taking the train to Colon and on the 8th I sail to Columbia!  Yes, I have stocked up on Dramamine!
