After a couple of nights in Junquillal I took the bus to Nicoya.  From there I would change to a bus to Samara and take a taxi to the Flying Crocodile.  The Nicoya Peninsula is fairly inundated with foreigners and I wasn't really interested in spending too much time there but I really wanted to fly.

I liked the town of Nicoya.  There were lots of pretty wooden buildings like this fruit and veg shop.  The town is named for the Chorotega chief who welcomed the first Spaniards to the area.  Hmmmm, wonder how that worked out for him?  Anyway, the Iglesia de San Blas, built in the 1600's, was worth a visit.  Note the spelling on the bell...

I was happy to get to the hotel after a long day of bus travel and settled into my very comfortable room.  I signed up for a flight and wondered if I'd be at all nervous about it. I watched a few others fly off in this wonderful James Bondesque flying machine!

When it was my turn I donned the helmet and was strapped into the back seat.  This was my view before take-off...
And then we were off!  And I was hooked!  What a fun ride!  We flew about 75 - 100 meters above the ground and had a wonderful view of egrets and crocodiles in the river.  We flew over Samara and then looped back north to the hotel.

The next evening I flew again and I would have flown a lot more but it is a bit pricey so I restrained myself.  We had a wonderful view of the sunset on the second flight...gorgeous!
