We woke to the call of muezzin early in Bikaneer. it was a cold night in that grotty hotel called the Desert Winds.. We could hear the rats scurrying around in the walls, I slept in my sleeping bag as the eiderdown provided was heavily stained........ Say no more
'Camera charge, Shoe minding charge'
We stopped at the Karni Mata rat temple where they are worshipped on the way to Jaisalmer. These rats were kind of cute but mangy, half of them couldn't walk properly and there were hundreds of them. The smell was quite overpowering and we wore our white shoe covers kept from the Taj Mahal to cover our feet. Some people had the bright idea of double bagging with plastic bags. (Tony).
