What a day! Tony gets left behind on the crowded station platform and Zoe J. gets her bag slashed. We have a free day so a group of us decide to get a Metro all day pass and explore Delhi city on foot and to visit the Red Fort and the Rajghat at the Jumna river where they burned the body of Gandhi.
We retrieved Tony eventually when we realized what had happened, we just got off the train and went back to stop no. 1. By the time we got to the entrance of the Red Fort in central Delhi, barricades had gone up and there were police and army swarming everywhere. We were in the midst of rape protests and demonstrations. A young 23 yr old physiotherapy student was raped on a bus by 6 men last week and is in a critical condition so the people were calling to hang the beasts. As usual the demonstrations turned violent and people got injured. By the time we were ready to go home after wandering around the bazaars, the Metro was closed. The taxi drivers did well that day. So looks like we may have to go back again to Delhi one day ( maybe)
