After babysitting the new spaniel puppy for sister Loel, Chan and I discovered a remarkable rock concert on TV at midnight while cruising for the Times Square countdown. It was a 1990 extravaganza, featuring the Band, Cyndi Lauper, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison and others, with over-the-top sets, graphics, and orchestrations. Apparently, it was dedicated to the world-wide refugee problem, but it was reminiscent of the Berlin wall coming down...
Sister Loel emerged around 10:30 for a walk and a visit to Willie McCovey's restaurant in Walnut Creek. This is an extreme sports family spot, with many screens going (including the Eagles). When Willie himself comes, it is packed. More baseball paraphernalia than you can imagine! Good ribs!
I then resumed conversations with daughter Serena -- resume, finances, resolves, etc/ This was excellent to clarify stuff -- size of job she needs to find, mini-goals, polishing the image. I went to BART around 8:30, and 24 hours later, after two planes, three trains, and numerous car rides, am finally with Margo back at the ranch. It has been pouring rain here, much like in California! I'm hoping for just a bit of sun to welcome in the New Year!
We hope you have enjoyed this blog. If you want to set one up for your trip, we'll let you know how.
Yours, Joel
