The little village of Zell am See is rather picturesque (as are most places in Austria) - it has a big lake surrounded by big mountains, which made the old-age-home feeling of it easier to bear. I only spent a night there to enable me to visit the Krimml falls, a fantastic feat of nature. They lie in the Hohe Tauern National Park, 3 rather glorious, powerful waterfalls that run through the valley. A very steep path runs up the mountain for about 4 km, taking you by the best viewpoints and give me plenty of opportunity to empty yet another memory card. I managed to lose myself on the wood covered pathway for several hours.
Back at the hostel I realised that I would be sharing the hostel (thankfully not my room) with a huge group of motorcycle enthusiasts! Luckily they were not as scary as they looked.
I encountered a rather serious problem with the state of my clothing... that is, having nothing to wear the next day!
