Well it was back to work for my final week and i really did want to do a quiet week but that was not to be.. seemed to be something on or someone to see every evening but least it kept me busy. I met up with Laura who had traveled with a few of us in Laos and Vietnam nearly a year ago so it was good fun catching up and trading a few stories.
I made saturday my last day in work as there was a lot of things that needed to be done there.. did go in late of course as had to watch the rugby first thing in the morning. It was out then after work with Manny for a few drinks and saturday nite was my work leaving do...lol. Started off in the Pig and Whistle which is our work local and made our way on then to Winnies and Chicos for a late nite.
Sunday we made another feeble attempt to win the quiz but that was just another effort in vain. All i had left to do in queenstown now was some adventure sports so first up on monday was the Canyon swings.. 109 metre drop swinging you 200 metres out in an arc and hittng a speed of 150 km per hour.. it was great fun and definitly scares the hell out of you.. I went on it twice jumping off backwards the second time which was a great rush.
On Tuesday i was lined up to do 2 bungy jumps .. first up was the kumara gorge bridge jump from a height of 47 metres.. seemed so less daunting than the canyon swing and with a big smile off i went.. loved it scraping the river below with my finger tips.. straight back on to the bus and off then to The nevis Highwire jump which is a cable car suspended between 2 mountains... You drop 134 metres on this one and really shows you how this gravity thing works..lol.. it was brilliant fun and absolutley loved it.
Tuesday evening i met up with pete again from work and headed home to pack up more of my things.. took me a few more hours to sort out my stuff wednesday morning before heading up the Gondala to do my last bungy jump off the Ledge... about 45 metres i thnk.. you have a beautiful panoramic view over queenstown and the Remarkables from here too. The jump was fun but after having done nevis you realise how much smaller it is. Made it down the Luge then on a few runs which is a big outdoor go-cart track.. Enjoyed my last view down into town then and hit the road for christchurch
