Today we drove back from the Blue Mountains to our lovely campsite in Narrabean and there we got ready for our very posh night at the Opera House. Time was short and buses were slow but we were smiled on and we made it just in time.

We arrived at the Opera House for a tour which was very interesting and informative, did you know the roof is made entirely from concrete and about a gerzillion tiles? and did you know there are no supporting posts to obscure views anywhere inside the building? We had a leisurely hour to spare wandering around the harbour and then we found our seats to watch and listen to Handel's Messiah. The solo voices were so clear and perfect but I particularly liked the combined efforts of the massive choir. We all stood up to the Hallelujah chorus, as is tradition (I'm glad it said this in the programme).

It was a great performance and the little boy who sat next to me enjoyed it just as much as any adult there! he had binoculars and sat riveted to the performance. I asked him if he enjoyed it at the end, he could have only been 6 years old. The best part of it for him, he explained excitedly, was staying up so late as his usual bedtime was 7pm.
The night wasn't over when the performance ended - we walked to the 'Aria' restaurant and had a glass of champagne and a very posh and tasty 3 course meal.

For starter I had 'bug meat', yes bug meat! when Paul was given a spoon for his soup I was expecting a fly swatter and an insect spray. Thankfully my understanding of bug meat was entirely wrong. It was a mouuse like taste sensation made from sea food.

We had steak and barramundi for mains and a gorgeous panna cotta and chocolate desert. This was some of the best food we have ever tasted. The service was supreme and the view was amazing. Never would we normally have the chance of such a dining experience and amazing performance; so thank you very much to the Harris Clan for treating us to this amazing experience that we shall always remember. We felt as if we had to get home before midnight or else we may have turned in to pumpkins! A real fairy tale night!
