Barcelona a wonderful place to go and have one of those "Off the wall weekends". I am Irish and funnily enough not into drinking pints of the black stuff or pints at all for that matter. The thing I love about Barcelona is the vast array of concoctions to drink which are truly delicious. My favourite area of the city is called the "Born". It is where the Picasso museum and all sorts of little shops, cafes, museums, boutique shops are located where you can spend your day roaming around in a trance, viewing all that there is on offer.
Getting to grips with the spanish hours of socialising is a bit strange at first. They eat dinner typically starting at about 10pm althought most restaurants have sittings from 8pm onwards which is late by Irish standards. In the born there are quite a few nice Barcelona Restaurants and my two favourite are pretty close to eachother located in the heart of the Born area. One is called La Fianna a hip and cool joint no doubt with ubber cool people and a lovely moroccan decored restaurant with loads of character, deep reds, lights and big comfy areas to lounge about. As for the cocktail list as long as my arm and Mojitos in pint glasses. Truly amazing. They have a website so google La Fianna barcelona and it should come up.
Another favourite of mine is La Luna located very close to the Santa Maria Del mar basilica.. aka 20 yards from the church on calle abaixadores. Again these guys have a website so google them. Amazing steaks in this place and it used to be the old stables of the church so there is loads of character to it. Again the food is great there was 30 of us who had dinner that night and not one complaint so congrats to the staff. Job well done as my lot are well demanding at the best of times. Again great cocktails so sit back relax and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer.
Ciao for now
